Woodgate Greencare

A New Approach to Well-being

Launching in 2023, Woodgate Greencare is a groundbreaking initiative designed to support the mental and physical well-being of children and young people through nature-based therapy. Located on our recently accredited care farm, this project builds upon the therapeutic benefits of animal care, outdoor activities, and horticulture to improve the lives of our service users.

What We Offer

Woodgate Greencare provides a structured, supportive environment where service users can engage in meaningful activities, including:

Animal Care – Spending time looking after our farm animals under the supervision of trained staff.

Outdoor Skills & Crafting – Engaging in practical tasks that develop confidence and resilience.

These activities are designed to reduce stress, build self-esteem, and encourage social interaction, offering service users a safe and enriching space to thrive.

Why Nature-Based Therapy?

The positive effects of spending time outdoors and connecting with animals are well-documented. Studies have shown that nature therapy can significantly improve mental health, reduce anxiety, and enhance cognitive function.

At Woodgate Greencare, we specifically support children and young people who:

Have Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Experience anxiety and social withdrawal

Are at risk of exclusion from education

Have no suitable identified education setting

While Autism and anxiety-related challenges are common among our service users, we welcome referrals for children with a wide range of support needs.

We believe in a holistic, person-centered approach, where every service user’s individual needs and strengths are considered. Our sessions focus on:

✔ Building confidence and resilience through hands-on learning.

✔ Encouraging social engagement in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
